Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. When she was just five when she left for Oxfordshire and enrolled at an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become a professional actor since she was aged six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting school that offers part-time classes. When she was 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was first cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theater instructor. David Heyman announced to Emma that following eight auditions, she and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first appearance on the big screen was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It broke all records for opening day and weekend numbers, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Reviewers were awed by the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed, called her performance commendable. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for the feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her role in the movie.
