Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio is an American actress. Maggie Grace is most well-known for her role as Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills as well on ABC's Lost TV show. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington from Ohio dropped out of high school, and relocating into Los Angeles after her divorced parents. She landed her debut role in the film, Rachel's Room's title character, in 2001 despite struggling in the financial department. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford's character she played in Lost from 2004 until 2005 was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. After leaving the show, Grace wanted to appear on film more frequently, having been cast as the opposite of Tom Welling in The Fog in 2005. The actress starred on the screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. Her role was reprised for Taken 2 (2011) and Taken 3 (2013).She also played Alice in Malice in Wonderland, a modern version from the Lewis Carroll novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace returned to her role as Shannon in Lost and the final episode. She appeared in 2013's sixth season of Californication. The role she plays is Faith, a groupie who is a muse for the stars, and draws the eye of Hank Moody (David Duchovny). As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sister of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. In her teens her career began on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her sister. Her next roles were in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind in 2002, as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received nominations for a Golden Globe Award in both the action drama Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. After a string of commercially successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 her name was recognized more widely for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). For her performance as an unmarried mom in Crazy Heart (2009) she got a nomination in the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. The following years, she starred in comedies as well as dramatic movies: Nanny McPhee & the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012. Other roles she has played include Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) as well as musicians in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and The kindergarten teacher. Gyllenhaal began her professional career as director, screenwriter and script writer when she wrote and directed her psychological horror film The Lost Daughter.
